I wish the Native tribes in this country had been allowed to preserve their languages. The "Indian Schools" were a travesty, and people are still affected by their cruel efforts to "kill the Indian and save the man." By the way, Welsh is taught compulsorily in all schools in Wales now, and some shools conduct all lessons in Welsh. Quite different to the 19th Century children who were actively discouraged from speaking Welsh and if heard not speaking English wold be punished by being made to wear a plaque bearing the words 'Welsh not'!
